I'm now sitting at home in Tupelo, Mississippi. It's almost 6:30 pm and I'm getting ready to attend my virtual class meeting.
I loved the ALA Conference! I met some really awesome people! I feel like librarianship is not just a profession but a community. If any of those great people from the ALA conference see this blog, I wish you the best and I hope we meet, again. To those who could not make it this year, I hope we meet in the future.
I'm also pleased I got to meet my advisor, Dr. Haynes. Although, I find it funny that we should have to go to Chicago to finally meet face-to-face.
Chicago is a really cool city. Nathan and I are already plotting to go back for vacation some time. All in all, this was a fantastic trip!

ALA Conference Day 3
Wow, what a night!!! Last night’s Freedom to Read Celebration at the Chicago Art Institute was awesome! Great food, excellent conversation…I was in heaven. Best of all, I got to meet Judy Blume!!!! I loved her books as a kid!! This has been an exciting experience. I hope I get to attend the conference next year in Washington, DC.

Two more hours of walking!
Whew! I don't know if my feet will ever recover! After sitting through two more events this morning, I walked around the exhibits for about two hours.
Tonight, I'm going to the Freedom to Read Celebration at the Chicago Art Institute. I'm really looking forward to it.
My last day at the conference is tomorrow. Tuesday morning I'm heading home.

First event @ ALA
So, I'm sitting in my first event at the American Library Association (ALA) Conference in Chicago. This is the Board of Directors meeting for the American Association of School Librarians, which is a division of the ALA.
After meeting some of my NextGen Librarian colleagues last night and hearing what the Board of Directors had to discuss today...well, if I had any doubts about going into this field, they're now completely gone. I have finally found my niche.
It's so incredible to be a part of something so worthwhile. How awesome to be so excited about your career!
I'll have more on my time here at ALA later.
Till then!

The Word
"In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God." John 1:1
Beginning with the word,
Creating from the word,
Living with the word,
Destroying by the word,
Beautiful, powerful, invincible, terrible,
Words become worlds.
First Entry
I haven't done creative writing in so long, I hardly know where to begin. I have an idea for something but it will have to wait until things calm down.
Oh, well. It will give me more time to think about it.
